BUNNY ´´STRIKER´´LEE

Edward O' Sullivan Lee, melhor conhecido como o Bunny " Striker" Lee (nascido em 29 agosto de 1941) é um produtor de gravação jamaicano proeminente, prolífico e bem sucedido principalmente nos anos 1960 e nos anos 1970. Lee começou seu funcionamento na carreira como um ajudante de gravação para o Duke Reid na etiqueta Treasure Isle em 1962,mais tarde executou os mesmos deveres para Leslie Kong.Transportou-se então sobre o trabalho com Ken Lack e tomou os deveres da engenharia. Lee mudou-se então para a produção (isto é, financiamento)e gravou seu primeiro registro de sucesso que veio com Roy Shirley com "Music Field" na WIRL em 1967. Lee fundou então sua própria etiqueta de gravação a ´´Lee's Label´´ produzindo sucessos durante 1967 e 68 por Lester Sterling,Stranger Cole,Derrick Morgan,Slim Smith e The Uniques (" My Conversation"), Pat Kelly e The Sensations, estabelecendo-se como um dos produtores superiores da Jamaica. Entre 1969 e 1972 produziu as batidas clássicas que incluem Slim Smith "Everybody Needs Love´´ , Delroy Wilson "Better Must Come", Eric Donaldson "Cherry Oh Baby", e John Holt' " Stick by Me". Lee e Tubby estavam experimentando as técnicas novas da produção, que chamou "Implements of sound´´.Lee produziu também centenas de discos de nomes como o mestre da escaleta Augustus Pablo,Dennis Brown,Barrington Spence,Barry Brown,Big Joe,Clint Eastwood,Cornell Campbell,Delroy Wilson,Dillinger,Don Carlos, Earl Chinna Smith,Sly & Robbie,Eric Donaldson,Jackie Edwards, Johnny Clarke,Leroy Smart,Max Romeo,muitos toasters como Dennis Alcapone, U- Roy, I-Roy, Prince Jazzbo, U- Brown, Dr. Alimantado, Jah Stitch, Trinity e Tapper Zukie,além de centenas de outros artistas..Trabalhando com equipamento que seria considerado hoje primitivo e limitado, produziram trilhas que consistiam na maior parte das peças do ritmo misturadas com as versões distorcidas ou alteradas de uma canção. Com o baixo e a bateria trabalhando com toda força agora, apenas o começo do dub foi quase que acidentalmente, um homem cantou com a chave da voz desligada, quando você alcança uma boa licença na bateria, uma lambedura no baixo, isso causa uma pequena confusão na cabeça de uma pessoa com ela.Lee incentivou Tubby para mixar os dubs cada vez mais selvagens, incluindo às vezes efeitos estranhos tais como aplausos ,tiros de espingarda,e barulho do trovão. Além do que o King Tubby, Prince Jammy, Philip Smart,grandes mixadores do dub trabalharam extensivamente na produções de Lee,e a maioria dos dubs de Bunny Lee de 1976 foram mixados por Prince Jammy.

 Em 1982, um episódio da série documental do Channel 4,´Deep Roots´ foi dedicado a Bunny Lee. Filmado na sala de controle do estúdio do King Tubby incluía uma longa conversa com Bunny e os músicos que já trabalharam com ele ao longo dos anos, incluindo Delroy Wilson, Johnny Clarke, Prince Jazzbo e Jackie Edwards. Então mostra Lee produzindo um dub enquanto Prince Jammy faz a mixagem. O programa foi lançado em DVD em Janeiro de 2008.
