Wilfred Gerald "Jackie" Edwards foi um músico e compositor, cuja carreira passou pelo ska, R & B, soul, rocksteady, roots. Edwards nasceu na Jamaica em 1938 e chamou a atenção de Chris Blackwell em 1959, quando Blackwell dirigia a Island Records em Londres, em 1962, Edwards viajou com ele. Edwards trabalhou como cantor e compositor. Ele escreveu tanto "Keep On Running" como "Somebody Help Me", que se tornaram singles número 1 no Reino Unido, para o The Spencer Davis Group. ele continuou a trabalhar como artista, lançando diversos sucessos com sua bela voz. Edwards também trabalhou como produtor, e co-produziu o álbum de 1977, Move Up Starsky para o cantor 'The Mexicano'.
Jackie Edwards faleceu em 15 de agosto de 1992 de um ataque cardiáco,aos 54 anos,mas sua lenda sobrevive,e é ainda muito admirado..
Além de cantor,Jackie Edwards era produtor e músico,tocava a bateria e os teclados.
Nos seus discos teve a colaboração de músicos como Sly Dunbar na bateria, Robbie Shakespeare no baixo,Michael Chung na guitarra solo, Geoffrey Chung na guitarra rítmica, Winston Wright no órgão Keith Sterling e Robbie Shakespeare no piano Zap Pow nos metais ..
